
“To open a musical school, create a mixed choir, shape national consciousness in Western Armenia and in Armenian settlements in Turkey, study rural folk songs, develop, improve and refine them, separating Armenian elements from them, free secular and religious songs from Turkish and foreign influence,” Professor Shoghik Voskanyan said on April 21 in her scientific report on the Armenian Genocide during an event organized by the Department of Professional Education and Applied Pedagogy.

In the report entitled “The last phase of Komitas's activity in Constantinople /1910-1915/,” the Professor presented biographical data about the great Armenian songwriter, singer and music ethnologist, and spoke about his productive activities and role in the history of Armenian people and in Armenian music in general.
The event was attended by lecturers of the Department and pupils of School N124 who performed the works of Komitas.
