KHACHATUR ABOVYAN ARMENIAN STATE PEDAGOGICAL UNIVERSITY

Within the scope of TEMPUS ASPIRE programme, an awareness building day was arranged at the Pedagogical University on the topic of “Access of People with Special Needs to the Society”.

On this occasion the University welcomed a painter with disabilities Vrezh Kirakosyan who introduced the students with the story of his life, shared his contemplations, as well as presented his formula of integrating into society, and achieving success in life and career.

Afterwards, the ASPU Faculty of Special Education students with specials needs presented a short film which they had prepared about the persons having visual disabilities and ways of overcoming their problems; furthermore, the future ergotherapists of the same Faculty presented the nature of their profession and peculiarities of assistance shown to disabled persons in society with more details.

The awareness building day was summarized with the round table discussion on the subject of “Higher Professional Education for Persons with Disabilities” organized at the Armenian-American Health Center, during which a joint declaration was signed between the  cooperating institutions about introducing and fostering the experience of inclusive education in the sphere of higher education between.
