“There is no course in the higher education sphere of Armenia which would introduce students to treatise writing methods”, mentioned the Candidate of Historical Sciences, Researcher Tigran Matosyan at the first meeting of a series of seminars on writing treaties organized by the initiative of the CIVITAS NGO at the Pedagogical University.
He introduced the topic of “Principles of Writing Treaties” noting that students are not only mere receivers of knowledge, but also creators of knowledge. According to the Bologna education system, Armenian students are also producers of knowledge, and the key forms of producing knowledge are the large variety of writings which should be in compliance with international standards of treatise
“These courses aim at assisting students in writing their treatises in compliance with scientific principles, as well as writing introductions, formulating the objective, describing the methodology on micro and macro levels”, added Tigran Matosyan in his conversation to the old.aspu.am
Besides, the latter considered it a serious problem that students in Armenia are often doing plagiarism, which is conditioned by being unaware of principles of writing treatise.
“The series of seminars on writing treatise which were launched at the Faculty of History and Law will develop students’ constructive thinking and skills of writing treatise based on accepted scientific principles,” ensured the Director of the Armenian Center for Democratic Education -CIVITAS NGO at the Pedagogical University Mr. Alexander Shagafyan, who is also in charge of the Center for Democracy and Human Rights Education.
Likewise, he expressed his hope that the series of seminars would involve other faculties too and as a result will give the opportunity of conducting sociological research activities about higher education sector issues. In case of appropriate quality, they will also be published.
To complete, we would also like to remind that according to the memorandum of understanding signed between the Armenian State Pedagogical University and the Armenian Center for Democratic Education -CIVITAS NGO the aim of the center operating at the University is to contribute the developing the academic course for the specialization of Sociology as well as acting as a resources and innovations laboratory for students, lecturers and teachers.
