
On the 70th anniversary of the World War II, an intercollegiate symposium was organized on the initiative of the Students Scientific Society of the Pedagogical University’s Faculty of History and Law. The list of participants of the academic session consisted of students and PhDs from both the ASPU and the YSU.
In their reports the future historians spoke about the Armenian troupes during the Great Patriotic War, the participation of Armenians of the Diaspora and the contribution of the Armenian Church in the war, and the lawyers discussed the status of POWs by analyzing the racist manifestations during the Second World War.

The Dean of the Faculty of History and War Mr. Edgar Hovhannisyan congratulated those present with the May victories once again reminding that the crucial battlesfor the Armenian nation, starting from the battle of Avarayr up to the taking of Shushi, were in May.
“The triple holiday has a conceit - correctly perceive and praise the victories, if we do not remember the previous ones, we will be deprived of the right to have triumphs in future”, assured the Dean and referred to manifestations of racism in the World War II.

“Despite the fact that fascism was defeated70 years ago, you can still notice Neo-Nazism manifestations based on national-religious discriminationin hot points of the Worldeven today.”
The President of the ASPU SSS Mariam Melkoumyan in her turn assured that the series of new and contextual events organized on the initiative of the Students Scientific Society would be of continuous nature with the active participation of students and lecturers.

At the end the participants were granted certificates.
