The University Center of Culture organized an event to honour the memory of victims of the Armenian Genocide.
The event dedicated to the 97th anniversary of Armenian Genocide was opened with the recitation of the student of Philological Faculty Vanuhi Bahramyan. The latter introduced the poem “Shirazakan” by Hovhannes Shiraz.
The “Speghani” choir, which has been enjoying a great recognition and reputation in the sphere of the World music made choir performances.
The winner of a number of international festivals, the member of the Federation of Choral Music “Speghani”, conducted by Marina Avtandilyan, performed the “Armenian Rural Songs” series by Komitas, and the “Megha qez pes” by Yervand Yerkanyan.
The students of the Yerevan State Conservatory Professor Rafayel Hakobyants were also invited to the event and performed some of the masterpieces of classical music.
The event was concluded by the “University Ensemble of Violinists”. Under the conduct of Yuri Avetissyan and with Marina Hambardzumyan’s accompaniment, they performed Arno Babajanyan’s “Vokalis”, Sviridov’s “Romance”, and Bach’s “Aria”.
“Today’s event is dedicated to the memory of the Armenian Genocide. Among those present on this occasion also were invited participants and ensembles. In addition, this is a wonderful opportunity for our students to listen and to get closer to the classical music,” the Director of the University Center of Culture, Professor Arkadi Shekunts mentioned.
