Traditional “Last Bell” rung at ASPU Base College
22.05.2015

May 22 marks graduation of pupils from schools both in Yerevan and in marzes (provinces). The traditional “Last Bell” was also rung for the 21 school-leavers of ASPU Base College (High School).

Feeling excited and proud at the same time, the pupils bade farewell to the College, promising to uphold the honour of the educational institution. With beautiful poems, words of thanks, music and dance performances, the pupils expressed their appreciation to their teachers and all those present in the ceremony.

“School brought us together, it united us… School has done its work and now it is our turn to show our abilities… We are indebted to you for the good and we are to blame ourselves for the bad… This is not the end; this is the beginning of a new and beautiful chapter of our life.” The pupils bade farewell to their favourite College with these words, taking with them great hopes, boundless emotions, cherished dreams and a fascinating tale which closes the doors of their childhood companion-school and opens the doors of adulthood.

Srbuhi Gevorgyan, ASPU Vice-Rector for Educational and Scientific Affairs, congratulated the school-leavers on behalf of the ASPU Rector, thanking first of all the parents for entrusting the educational fate of their children to the ASPU Base College. She also thanked the teaching staff of the College for sharing their professional skills and abilities with the pupils, as well as for their love and care.

“I think that many of you will continue you studies at the Pedagogical University and the University’s devoted lecturers will continue to work with you, shaping a new professional feature in you and ensuring your professional growth,” the vice-rector said assuring everyone that the University is looking forward to realizing the wishes, aspirations and unrealized dreams of every pupil.

Naira Safaryan, Principal of the ASPU Base College, congratulated everyone and confessed that the past three years spent with the pupils had not been easy ones:  they had worked together exerting every effort to overcome all difficulties [on their way] with honour and success.

“I am hopeful that today you are ready to overcome all challenges and difficulties on your way and I am sure that wherever you go you will always keep the good reputation and honor of the ASPU College. I am sure that the pupils of our College will become good soldiers, pillars of a strong family and society, and pioneers ready to educate and nurture new generations,” Naira Safaryan said reading out the congratulatory message of Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan addressed to school-leavers.

The day was more exciting and memorable for the school-leavers of the ASPU College. Future journalist Amalya Melkonyan, who is going to continue her studies at the Pedagogical University, is very excited. But she does not forget that it is time to express her gratitude to her teachers for their great efforts, boundless love and devotion.

Future financier Ashkhen Sultanyan also expressed words of thanks on the occasion of the day and confessed that she would remember the days spent at the College all her life. She had devoted teachers and spent three unforgettable years of her life at the College, Ashkhen added. “Teachers have the calling to educate and teach generations. Our teachers have carried out their mission with honor, glory and responsibility,” she said.

Yeranik Shahbazyan agreed with her friends and said she was both excited and proud to have left the ASPU Base College where she had acquired numerous friends, deep knowledge and, most importantly, an ability to distinguish between the good and the bad, to understand the mission of a kind man and a good citizen.

The traditional ceremony of the “Last Bell” at the ASPU Base College proved once again that this year’s school-leavers also realize that this is not the end, rather, it is the beginning of a new and beautiful chapter of their life. As representatives of young generation who are stepping into adulthood the pupils called on their successors to uphold the good name of the College and add more achievements to its history.
