Today, within the scope of institutional accreditation process an experts’ group visited the Pedagogical University.
From 25 -29 May, the experts will hold discussion-meetings and conduct review of resources with the Rector, Vice- Rectors, Deans, Heads of Departments, self-assessment groups, lecturers and professors, students, graduates and potential employers.
Three local experts are involved in the experts’ group as well as one student and one international expert; the group is supervised by the Doctor of Philology, Professor Yelena Yerznkyan, and the international expert is the senior lecturer of the Bath SPA University of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Head of Education and Pedagogical Research Alan How.
The accreditation process is coordinated by the National Center for Professional Education Quality Assurance Foundation (ANQA).
Before the visit to the University, the experts studied the ASPU self-assessment; after the experts mission the group will submit a general conclusion pointing out the problems of the University together with some recommendations on solution thereof.
Based on the experts’ conclusions and recommendations, the university in its turn will form a shortcomings rectification programme with a definite timeframe for implementation; the final stage of the process is the decision of the accreditation committee.
We would also like to mention that in 2011 the ASPU passed an institutional accreditation process through which accreditation criteria and procedures, still being in the process of development, were tested.
On the basis of an experimental process the RA professional education accreditation criteria were reviewed, finalized and approved by the Government, and the University, according to its shortcomings rectification programme, carried out improvement processes.
Today, the ASPU has applied for passing institutional accreditation with already approved criteria.
