A memory-matinee was held at the Pedagogical University dedicated to our days’ illustrious composer, the RA and USSR People’s Artist Edward Mirzoyan.
Among the guest of the event were the maestro’s wife Mrs. Heghinei Mirzoyan, the teaching-professorial team of the University together with students and music amateurs.
“One of the most interesting and core pages of Armenian music is connected with the musician, creator, pedagogue, public figure Edward Mirzoyan. He was a Soviet-Armenian composer who greatly contributed to the development of Armenian culture with his effective and versatile activities”, the first year MA student of the Faculty of Art Education, Department of Music Azniv Bareghamyan mentioned in her interview to the old.aspu.am; in fact, she was the author of the initiative.
During the event students of first and second year of the Faculty of Musical Education Azniv Barseghyan, Mariam Mnatsakanyan, Alvina Tigranyan, Arpinei Kirakosyan, Ani Antonyan and Shoushan Haroutyunyan presented the vocal compositions by Edward Mirzoyan “They say, as if…” and “I saw a dream”, as well as the piano poem called “An Album for my Grandchild” consisting of six parts, and compositions “Meditation” and “Mariam”. The Associate Professor of the Department of Theory of Music, Teaching Methodology and Musical Instruments, winner of international competitions ShaqueÕœ Tadevosyan performed the “Sad Waltz”. And last but not least, the life and activities of the composer were also presented.
