Results of Astana Economic Forum discussed at ASPU

The seminar “Astana Economic Forum” was held at Armenian State Pedagogical University. The event was attended by Mr Kanat Khassenov, Chargé d'Affaires of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Armenia, Mr Asker Kiikov, First Secretary at the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Armenia, Mr Manvel Ghumashyan, moderator of the seminar, Head of the Public Relations and Information Regional Research Service, Mr Karen Bekaryan, Chairman of the European Integration NGO, students, lecturers and Rector of the University.

 

Before the start of the seminar, the guests were received by ASPU Rector Ruben Mirzakhanyan. During the seminar, ASPU Vice-Rector for Educational and Scientific Affairs Srbuhi Gevorgyan referred to the long-term cooperation between Armenian and Kazakhstan in political, economic and commercial spheres, as well as joint work on the international level, stressing that ‘mutual trust, assistance, mutually beneficial cooperation and partnership between the two countries in question will become the main landmarks of development in scientific, educational and cultural sectors.’ 

 

Mr Kanat Khassenov, Chargé d'Affaires of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Armenia, noted that the seminar was being held in one of the leading universities in Armenia and dwelt on Armenian-Kazakh partnership in various spheres. In his speech, he referred to the dynamic development of bilateral relations, which, he said, laid serious grounds for developing and deepening economic cooperation.

 

Mr Ara Yeremyan, ASPU Vice-Rector for Personnel and International Cooperation, spoke about the recent working visit to Almaty and discussions on educational projects.

 

He viewed the visit as a good opportunity for international integration in the context of scientific collaboration and expressed hope that ‘cooperation between the two countries will expand and develop in the near future.’ 

 

Also, reports were made by Mr Asker Kiikov, First Secretary at the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Armenia, Mr Aram Safaryan, Deputy Head of Armenia-Kazakhstan Friendship Group, Mr Vilen Khachatryan, Doctor of Economics, a senior researcher at the Institute of Economics after M. Kotanyan, National Academy of Sciences of Armenia, and Ms Naira Mkrtchyan, a lecturer at Yerevan State University. 

 

In their reports, they dwelt on a number of issues, including the VII Astana Economic Forum, its importance and economic issues [discussed during the event], guidelines for developing global economy and surmounting crisis, Kazakhstan's role in the global economy, the economic reforms underway in Kazakhstan, as well as Kazakhstan's model of making the country an international economic platform. At the same time, they stressed that Kazakhstan's example is very important for Armenia in terms of boosting the country’s industrial sector. 

 

At the end of the meeting, the organizers gave the participants books, posters and booklets telling about Kazakhstan.
