ASPU Rector meets graduates of distance learning courses
27.05.2015

ASPU Rector Ruben Mirzakhanyan today had a meeting with students taking distance-learning courses in the ten Faculties of the University as part of traditional meetings before annual qualifying examinations.

As in previous meetings, the Rector wanted to personally speak to students [before the exams] about their concerns and problems. He also presented the work done in this direction by his colleagues and him.

After asking the students about their attendance to consultations and additional classes, Mr Mirzakhanyan advised them to use professional and methodological literature, programs and glossaries in the examination rooms in a correct and proper way. “Although the curriculum and diploma for students taking distance education courses are the same as the curriculum and diploma of traditional education, it is not fair to present them the same requirements. Eventually, the classes are comparatively fewer and the knowledge passed to students is not so great. Of course, we can make some reservations, but those should be well grounded, with the accent laid on the fight against illiteracy and incompetence,” he added.

Ruben Mirzakhanyan then urged distance learning students to pay attention to their grades and always demonstrate their knowledge. He also advised students to do their utmost so that education sector officials will not form a skeptical approach to ASPU graduates.

During the meeting, the students asked the Rector many questions and expressed satisfaction with the knowledge they had acquired in the five years of University studies.
