11.05.2012
The MA graduates of the Faculty of History and Law of the Pedagogical University had a meeting with the Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II at the Mother See of Holy

 Echmiadzin.

At the beginning of the meeting the Pedagogical University Chancellor, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor Rouben Mirzakhanyan expressed his deepest gratitude to the Catholicos for receiving the postgraduates.

“Some of those present are going to fulfill their pedagogical activities at schools. Thus, meeting You and receiving Your blessing is of utmost importance for their future successful work.”

By welcoming the students, the Catholicos outlined the great meaning of the University’s undertaking and the students’ desire to visit the holy city. With this initiative they receive their blessing, associate with the spiritual values and the history of the past. But above all this visit is like a pilgrimage with which the future pedagogues are preparing to dedicate themselves to teach the truth to the coming generations.

“In order to educate worthy citizens, as well as for the progress of the nation the knowledge of history has always been essential; thus, you have an important and huge mission to accomplish. I am glad to see that the Pedagogical University is preparing and releasing abundant specialists to teach a variety of subject at schools,” His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians said.

Besides, His Holiness made a commandment to the students to use their knowledge and professional skills to foster the realization of the Church’s mission to disseminate healthy thinking among the people. In addition, he orders them to demonstrate high consciousness, to be captious, and to hold responsibility in front of history to create a new soul and mind.

The postgraduate Hasmik Hakobyan is already working at a school. This was an exceptional opportunity for her to meet His Holiness; “By listening to his advice, we, as the teachers educating the coming generations, became much more obliged to be the leaders in our work.”
The graduate of the same course Vagharshak Matikyan, throwing a glimpse of a historian to the Armenian History, mentions that Echmiadzin is the symbol of the unsubdued Armenian nation.

“As a future pedagogue I strongly emphasize the meeting with His Holiness, as in all times the spiritual power was the one to suppress the secular authority”.

The postgraduates also visited the Aleck and Mary treasury-museum, where they, accompanied by the guard-guide Yelena Ananyan, made a tour in the museum and got acquainted with the history and meaning of the church items.
