Army Needs Literate Officers

By a decree of Armenian Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan, graduates of higher education institutions can hereinafter receive Officer’s title in three years against the previous five


 years. 
 
Within the framework of the program, representatives of the sphere held a meeting with BA and MA graduates of the Armenian State Pedagogical University (ASPU).
 
Felix Poghosyan, Deputy Head of Information and Public Relations Department at the RA Defense Ministry, Colonel Gagik Soghomonyan, senior officer at the Ministry’s Human Resources and Military Education Department, Colonel Khachik Khachatryan, Deputy Head of the Military Institute after Vazgen Sargsyan, Lieutenant-Colonel Armen Hayrapetyan, head of the 2nd pre-recruitment training division of the RA Military Commissariat, familiarized the future draftees with the Ministry’s training programs.
 
The university students, who are eligible to participate in the spring recruitment, can do paid work over a three-year period after studying at the university for a year. 
 
 In the course of study, they will obtain knowledge and specialization in tactical, military technical, general military and military management subjects. 
 

Addressing the students, Colonel Khachik Khacharyan highlighted the importance and role of the given program in the development of the armed forces. He called on them to follow and repeat the experience of former ASPU graduates who stood out with their discipline and rich store of knowledge and are already officers at military institutions.
 
All necessary conditions are created in military institutions for students pursuing a military career. Students will have a chance to become self-educated, engage in sports and receive scholarship.
 
Graduates from non-military institutions, as well as students, who have already completed their military service in the RA Armed Forces, can enter military education institutions. 
 
  Students who show high academic performance will be able to continue their service in different military unites across Armenia by the drawing of lots. 
 
The program will be implemented in the Military Institute after Vazgen Sargsyan and in the Military Aviation Institute after Marshal Armenak Khanperyants.
