This year we celebrate the 115th anniversary of the illustrious poet Eghishei Charents and the 100th anniversary of his literary activity. On this occasion the Department of

Armenian Language and Elementary Teaching Methods of the Faculty of Primary Education organized a matinee headed as “Eghishei Charents- Poet Born in the City of Maku”.
The event commenced with the musical performance of the gifted poet’s “Tagh andznakan” poem. The students also recited the poet’s “Mahvan Tesil/Vision of Death”, “Tagharan/Book of Songs”, Lusampopi Pes Aghjik/Girl Like a Lampshade”, “Heracumi Khosqer/Parting Words” and introduced the memoirs of our great figures about Charents.
Deeply impressed by what he saw, the Acting professor of the Department of Teaching Methods of Physics Levon Grigoryan mentioned, “We can grow only by exalting our values.
Charents is some kind of medicine, a path, whose poetry helps to stay aside of all kinds of impurity, get rid of complexes of abasement and inferiority, and to believe that you can conquer heights.”
Moreover, the professor compared Charents with Narekatsi who had immense impact during his era. “In fact, we owe our existence a bit to Charents, the great son of Master Abgar.”
Additionally, the organizer of the event, the Professor of the Department of Armenian Language and Elementary Teaching Methods of the Faculty of Primary Education Karinei Aghababyan also observed the following, “I got assured that the 21st century young people praise and perceive the values which are served to them. They once again got convinced of the fact that we have a very rich literature and I am sure that the knowledge and impression gained from this event will assist in solving their problems in future.”
More to the point, as the student of the Department of Pedagogy and Methodology of Elementary Education of the Faculty of Primary Education Narine Aramyan considers, this event gave them an opportunity to better and deeper understand Charents style, perceive his poems and make new discoveries about the writer’s biography.
Besides, the student of the same Department Hripsimei Araqelyan confesses that she has been living with Charents poetry since her childhood and today’s matinee newly rediscovered her favourite poet.
