The first event organized within the framework of a two-year course was headed “Modern Methods of Correcting Children’s Speech Disorders.”
“In many cases, speech disorders in children are caused by social and biological factors. In this context, the role of a logopedist is increasing day by day,” said Professor Mary Shaboyan, a key organizer of the event.
At her advice, the students had prepared deductive material relating to speech disorders. The participants of the event also shared their experiences of the previous years, which as they said, greatly contribute to the correction of speech disorders.
In their reports, the students enumerated the causes and characteristics of speech disorders, presented modern methods of detecting voice disorders and underlined the importance of various breathing exercises as well as the role of a logopedist.
With the help of a game, the students attempted to determine differences in children’s vocal expressions in different situations.
Kim Sarukhanyan, Head of the National Centre for Logopedics, stressed the importance of similar open lessons and expressed hope that the deductive material and breathing exercises will be applied by other logopedists as well.
