David Hovhannisyan is a student in the Department of Direction within the Cultural Stream at the (High-School) College of the Pedagogical University.

He has been playing the piano since he was six. The young pianist, who studied at the Music School after Sayat-Nova, had numerous solo concerts both in the Republic and abroad.

The winner of the Bronze Medal at the Tbilisi Young Pianists Contest, as well as the 1st prize winner at both the Scriabin Piano competition and the International Piano Competition on Santorini island, arranged his next solo concert at the grand music hall of the Yerevan State Conservatory after Komitas.

The concert program included the multi-genre compositions of L.V. Beethoven, S. Frank, A. Berg, F. List, and S. Prokofiev, which were purposefully selected to satisfy the diversity of preferences of the music lovers.

“I think, classical music has its immense role in the formation of a person’s inner-world. The musical pieces presented at this solo concert represent different languages of classical music. During a seventy-minute concert I tried to preserve a common line and to discover certain directions of classical music; based on the applauses I may assume having succeeded in it,” David Hovhannisyan said.

And besides, up to the new pianist, his contemporaries lack the flight of thought. Davit advises them to give up living their superficial lifestyles and to get closer to the art.

Moreover, he is sure that the person related to world of music cannot stay aside of the other directions of art. The brightest proof for that was David's staging of the first act of the drama «The World in a Woman» on 7 April. The complete play will be staged in September.

And before that, on 26 June, David Hovhannisyan will take part in the Gina Bachauer International Piano Competition in Salt Lake City. We are glad to mention that he was included in the list of the best 30 participants out of 600 in this prestigious international competition.
