From 25 June to 2 July, the Pedagogical University will be open for the second stage of the admissions procedures; this stage is intended for those demobilized from the army, for
overseas applicants who studied in foreign universities, and for graduates of vocational institutions.
The applicants’ admissions are arranged in two stages; the first stage of admissions for 2012/13 academic year is already over.
School graduates of the current and previous year already submitted their applications in the period from 5 May until 1 June.
This year, 1759 applicants will compete for the available 1554 places open at the Pedagogical University. The following specializations have the largest number of applicants: Pedagogy and Methodology (elementary education) 178, History 115, Armenian Language and Literature 101, Jurisprudence (pedagogy) 91, Drawing and Painting 86, Pedagogy and Methodology (pre-school education) 82, Choreography 77, Special Pedagogy 77, Biology 71.
The Head of Admissions Planning and Coordinating Department Mkrtich Ghoukasyan is glad about the applications submission procedures. “The convenient conditions arranged for the admissions committee allowed us to have a better arranged and composed process for submission of applications. Besides, the members of the admissions committee were quite helpful in correctly filling in the application forms”.
Moreover, speaking about this year’s innovations, Mkrtich Ghoukasyan also mentioned the process of not taking examinations on subjects marked with two asterisks, as well as the order of preserving the annual or the final grades from the school certificate according to which the applicants are allowed to compete for places in the tuition fee system.
The second innovation is that the applicants of the country’s universities, who received a positive grade on the same subject, may submit new applications and compete for the vacant places on the corresponding specialization.
Additionally, another innovation refers to those graduates from secondary schools that are of conscription age; these people will be drafted into the army after passing the entrance examinations. More to the point, those holding free of tuition fee places, will also be entitled to the right of extension.
Let us also mention, that this year the Pedagogical University will also realize targeted admissions; based on the applications submitted from the RA border, mountainous regions, about 50% of applicants will hold places free of tuition fees.
