From June 10 to June 24, the Hall of Music Company hosted the 4th contest of National Musical Instruments and Individual Performers of Folk Songs dedicated to the 300th anniversary of

great Armenian musician and poet Sayat-Nova. The contest was organized by the Ministry of Culture Music Company and Yerevan Komitas State Conservatory.
Participants of the contest were pupils of musical and art schools of the republic, students of the state conservatory, postgraduates and professional performers.
Samson Palyan, who represented Armenian State Pedagogical University (ASPU) at the contest, and Mher Galstyan, another student of the university, won 1st and 3rd prizes respectively in the category of Folk Song.
Kanon player Valya Mikoyan and santur player Narek Grigoryan received 3rd prizes in the category of National Musical Instruments.
The contest aims to identify talented individual performers in the field of folk music and support their professional development.
