The opening ceremony for the academic year 2012-2013 will take place at Armenian State Pedagogical University (ASPU) after Khachatur Abovyan on September 3.
The University will open its doors to first-year students in a solemn and festive atmosphere, with revised curricula and subject-oriented programs.
ASPU Chancellor, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor Rouben Mirzakhanyan, deans and lecturer-professorial team of the University will give welcome addresses.
One hundred and forty-eight students have been admitted to the Faculty of Preschool Education. The solemn reception will be held in the computer room of the University. Heghine Khachatryan, Dean of the Faculty, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor, vice deans and heads of chairs will deliver welcome speeches.
Graduates of previous years and the choir of the Faculty will congratulate the students on the admission to the University.
After the solemn ceremony, freshmen of the Faculty of Preschool Education will start their first lesson accompanied by professors and MA students.
The Faculty of Culture has also organized a celebratory event to mark the start of the new academic year. The 243 freshmen of the faculty will be welcomed by the brass band of the Faculty and Gevorg Tadevosyan, Dean of the Faculty, Honored Art Worker of the Republic of Armenia, Professor. The latter will present the history and chronology of the 90-year-old University, prominent graduates of the Faculty and their activities.
The Dean of the Faculty says throughout the academic year they will be guided by the slogan “To the light, to the knowledge!”
Heads of chairs and lecturers will also congratulate first-year students on the admission to the University and Day of Knowledge.
After the solemn reception, the students of the Faculty will be introduced to their audiences, professional studios and photolaboratory. It is due to mention that in the new academic year the Faculty of Culture will have a modern refectory where students can buy food at affordable prices.
The Faculty of Special Education will also organize a special reception for its 171 freshmen. Armenouhi Avagyan, Dean of the Faculty, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, vice deans and lecturers will welcome them with congratulatory speeches in the computer room. The freshmen will perform the anthems of Armenia and the University during the event.
Armenouhi Avagyan says a beautiful surprise is awaiting all freshmen of the Faculty of Special Education.
Each of the ten faculties of the University has prepared to receive incoming first-year students in a unique way.
