“The One Who Can Hear – Can Win Debates”.

Today, the Faculty of Primary Education announced the start of its Debates club.


Open Society Foundations- Armenia (OSF) and the Youth Initiative announced the competition for grant programmes to open the Debates club still in May and received applications from individual lecturers from different universities.
 
Likewise, Liana Chobanyan, lecturer from the Chair of Pre-school pedagogy and Methodologies of the Pedagogical University, also submitted an application.
The application consideration was made on several stages. Upon receiving the intended grant, the Faculty undertook the creation of the club.
 
The teaching-professorial team of the Faculty, together with students and other guest were all present at the opening event.
 
The opening speech of the event was delivered by the president of the Club Liana Chobanyan, who also introduced the aims and objectives of opening the club as well as emphasized the importance of teaching the culture of debates and its realization formats.
 

“This project aims to involve our students into discussions of professional and well-balanced questions and issues which have significant role in their lives, education and for the society. And besides, debates will stimulate the development of quick concentration, analytical thinking, rhetoric speeches, research and other skills and abilities,” Liana Chobanyan said.
 
Moreover, the latter assured that their motto at the Debates club will be as follows “The One Who Can Hear – Can Win Debates”.
 
Furthermore, the Dean of the Faculty of Primary Education, Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor Heghinei Khachatryan congratulated on opening the club and considered the opening of the Debates club as another acquirement of the Faculty.
 
“I strongly hope that it will foster formation of analytical thinking and tolerance culture in our society, and I also anticipate that the aims and objectives specific to the debates will also be introduced during the classes”.
 

And last but not least, the opening event was also marked with their complimentary and greeting speeches of heads of Chairs and lecturers.
