The Pedagogical Sent the Only Armenian Representative to the International Conference
28.09.2012
The young scientist, Candidate of Historical Sciences, Associate Professor at the Chair of Armenian History Samvel Poghosyan participated in conference headed “Solidarity, Identity, Memory” held in city Gdansk in Poland on 20-21 September 2012.

More than 120 people from all continents attended the conference.

And the only representative from Armenia delivered his lecture in the historic branch on the subject of “Collaboration of Armenian Companies in the USA and their voluntary movement in times of World War I”.

Within the framework of the subject, a reference was made on seven Armenian-American companies which had been divided and united only in times of the World War I, when there was a necessity to create a voluntary movement”.

“Drawing parallels with our days, I tried to raise the problems of intercommunity collaboration and how Armenians manage to cooperate and to unite over national issues. The subject interested many; vigorous discussions developed on it,” Samvel Poghosyan mentioned in his conversation with the armspu.am.

In addition, the Armenian genocide question was also touched upon during the conference. In their turn, the Turkish participants did everything to falsify the history, to forget the past. Due to the interference of the Armenian and the participants from other countries these attempts were prevented.

The Armenian representative Samvel Poghosyan received financial assistance from the RA Presidents grants provided to young scientists, and form the University.

“My participation in the conference gave an opportunity to understand that we do not concede in terms of organizational affairs to the Polish, too. And the brightest opportunity for this was the “International Conference of Young Historians” arranged with an adventurous group of young scientists last year”, the historian added.

We would also like to mention that conference on the subject “Solidarity, Identity, Memory” organized by the State Universities of Gdansk and Parana, was dedicated to the movement of solidarity realized in Poland in 1982.
