Women Participate in Disaster Risk Reduction Schemes
15.10.2012
A group of students from the Pedagogical University, under the supervision of lecturer Perch Karapetyan, within the framework of the course on Emergency Situations participated in

the training events arranged at the RA MES Crisis Management State Academy (CMSA).

The aim of the training headed as “Ladies and girls- visible and invisible force to facing disaster” is to raise the level of the society awareness to reduce disaster risks, to encourage women and girls’ involvement and to develop ability to resist disasters.

On the first stage of the training rescuers and students demonstrated their skills of saving people’s lives by taking the victims down from windows of blocks by ropes.

Further, on the next stage of the event, a car accident was performed where a female driver received head and spinal conditional injuries. Here, the students managed to save the victim by taking her out of the car and to pass her to the ambulance stuff.

On this occasion, one of the students, Lilit Vahanyan mentioned that she would not mind acting on the same second exercise once more; the positive emotions have already overcome her fear.

Let us also mention that on 13 October the world marks the International Day for Risk Reduction. And this year, it emphasizes the significant role of women in disasters preparation for disasters and reduction of the risks.
