Future Pedagogue Vardush Ghazaryan is from a pedagogues’ family. Being a student of the Pedagogical University is a great honour for her. As she says, she has not even
thought of choosing another specialization. She is extremely excited to be granted the opportunity to present the freshmen swearing in.
“I am swearing, Professor, to listen to the call of centuries when entering the institution bearing your name, to become the guardian of the Armenian literature. Today, we have come to you- to the greatest singer for the Armenian wounds and fair struggling, to say that we are reborn and live a new life”.
According to the tradition, every year the Great Illuminator Khachatur Abovyan’s house-museum located in Qanaqer is welcoming the Pedagogical University freshmen who make a vow to stay true to the title to which they voluntarily accredited.
This year, around 1000 students joined the large army the first teacher of which was Mesrop Mashtots, and with the lofty ideas of whom our ancestors struggled against the darkness for the bright future.
The swearing ceremony started with the Lord ’s Prayer; afterwards, the Dean of the Faculty of Theology of the Yerevan State University, His Eminence Lord Anoushavan Zhamkochyan Bishop passed to all those present the blessing of the Catholicos of All Armenians, His Holiness Karekin II.
Turning to the freshmen, His Holiness urged them to be the best successors of Armenian Schooling.
“Today, you must take a pledge to become the soldiers of education. The numerous foreign winds that are spreading all over the country, are trying to tear our generations from their roots. Today, the pedagogues have a heavy cross to bear on their shoulders; they have to educate a generation which will be able to face the winds”.
In his turn, the University Chancellor Rouben Mirzakhanyan wished students good luck and added, “Our nation, immortalized the memory of Khachatur Abovyan, named numerous towns, villages, educational institutions after him.
I think the biggest sacrament of this will be to name the Armenian State Pedagogical University after the greatest
pedagogue, illuminator. This once again emphasizes the fact that the forthcoming of the national school, and the future of our people strongly depends on our joint efforts and work”.
Afterwards, the future pedagogues were also greeted by and received compliments from the Director of the Institute of Correctional Pedagogy of the Russian Academy of Sciences Nikolay Malofeev, the Head of the Department of Music of the Pedagogical University Ara Gevorgyan, and the President of the Student Council Volodya Gasparyan.
In addition, the foreign partner of the Pedagogical University Nikolay Malofeev expressed his happiness to be in one of the Armenian cultural centers and for the opportunity to participate in that ceremony. The Academician is assured that in order to have a powerful Armenia and to bring light to the forthcoming tomorrow, the ones responsible to a large extent are today’s pedagogues.
Further, the solemn swearing ceremony was followed by the concert arranged on this occasion.
