On October 20-24, Armenia is hosting a Swiss delegation that arrived in the country on a working visit.

The Swiss guests headed by Guy Mettan, President of the Chamber of Commerce, Executive Director of the Swiss Press Club and member of the Big Board, visited the Armenian State Pedagogical University (ASPU).
The delegation included Michel Hirsig, delegate of the Economic Development Office, Alain de Kalbermatten, Adviser to municipal authorities of Geneva, Vladimir Kukay, Secretary-General of the CIS House of Trade, Philippe Gasser, Swiss parliamentarian and former chairman of the Christian Democratic People's Party, Hakob Avagian, a businessman and member of the same party, journalists and lawyers.
In his welcoming address, ASPU Rector Rouben Mirzakhanyan said he was glad to host the Swiss delegates in Armenia’s second largest university. He stressed that the country pays special attention to university education, specifically the development of the Pedagogical University and its prospects.
“Political, economic and moral atmosphere should be formed around universities to ensure the development of any country and society. Armenian State Pedagogical University is a teaching-oriented university. I believe that the future of the national school largely depends on the effective functioning of our university,” he said.

Rouben Mirzakhanyan is confident that the development of education and science is directly linked to the development of economy.
In his addressing speech, President of the Swiss Chamber of Commerce Guy Mettan dwelt on centuries-old cooperation between Armenia and Switzerland and expressed his gladness for visiting the University. He expressed the hope that the visit would mark good beginning for future collaboration, contributing to the improvement of the University’s educational system.
The Swiss delegates were welcomed by jazz performances and folk dances. A pleasant surprise was awaiting the guests at the University: Gari Qyosayan Jazz Quartet and dance ensemble of the University’s Culture Faculty performed for the guests.
