“Our dear homeland is calling us; can’t you hear its voice? Are your souls that unresponsive? Be brave, be courageous, let all disbelievers, all those servile and coward step aside. Our trial is holly, just and immortal,” this is the call of Levon 7th the king of Kilikia to the Armenian people.
Today, the performance of the well-known Armenian writer, playwright from the Diaspora, Moushegh Ishkhan called “King of Kilikia”, with the participation of the “Norq” theater actors was staged at the hall of the Faculty of Culture.
The stage director, Honoured RA Art Worker, winner of the RA State Award, Professor of the Department of Direction is Artashes Hovhannisyan, and the major part of the actors consists of the students and graduates of the Pedagogical University.
The stage director concentrated in the character of Levon 7th, the successor of the Rubinyants state the love and force of struggle for the motherland which are necessary for each Armenian.
Levon 7th preserves the historical homeland, the concept of Kilikia which stayed without the King for six years. He is convinced that desire and belief will set the beginning for new dawns.
He was inhaling the atmosphere where the people of Kilika were suffocating; Levon considered all commons scolds and mockers as slaves and knights of darkness.
“Levon most suffered especially from the notion of being not understood. His and his fellow-people’s one and only dream was to have Kilikia that did not perceive time. I think I managed to deliver to the audience what my character wanted to express, and which was important yesterday, today and tomorrow. We need the kings of Kilikia at all times,” said the actor of Levon 7th Gevorg Babakhanyan, who is the graduate of the Pedagogical University and currently the actor at the “Norq” theater.
Moreover, the latter has a big desire for people to get infected with theatre; it is the epidemic of incurable and spiritual recovery.
The author of around fifty performances, the stage director of the performance Artashes Hovhannisyan has been working in the University for about forty years. Today, he

emphasized the importance to associate with the “King of Kilikia” at our times; Levon 7th infuses love towards the motherland in audience.
What is more, the solution of the performance differed from Moushegh Ishkhan’s “King Kilikia” play. As it was intended by Artashes Hovhannisyan, Levon 8th comes up, thus symbolizing the eternity of Kilikia.
Besides, we would also like to mention that the performance was introduced at the “Theatrical Lory” festival and received 1st awards in two nominations.
To conclude, the list of events arranged by the Faculty of Culture which commenced with the concert of the Choreographic Department students was followed by “King of Kilikia” performance and will proceed with the brass band concert devoted to the 90th anniversary of the Pedagogical University.
