Sergey Hambardzumyan- whom people like to listen to
30.10.2012
Under the control of Sergey Hambardzumyan, Professor Ashot Ter-Israelyan, Alis Marjanyan, within the framework of the subject “Running Machines”, all students of the

Pedagogical University had lessons teaching to conduct a tractor once a week.

The duration of the course was 1 to 1/2 year; upon finishing the course, all students took an exam to conduct a tractor located in the Pedagogical yard.

“In times of the Great Patriotic war all men went to the front, only women stayed in villages and only girls studied at universities. In this situation, a decision was made that they had to learn to run machines, particularly to conduct tractors.

This was an obligatory condition for everybody,” recalls Sergey Hambardzumyan after so many years; the latter was invited to the Pedagogical University to teach how to run machines.

In fact, it is this small but unforgettable recollection that still ties Sergey Hambardzumyan to the Pedagogical University which in its turn is celebrating its 90th anniversary this year.
In addition, the Academician notices the changes that are being realized at the Pedagogical and especially emphasizes the fact that the University authorities frequently invite the best scientists in the Republic to teach at the University.

“Science may develop in case there are young representatives of science institutions; and today, the Pedagogical must be attached to all fields of science,” Sergey Hambardzumyan mentioned and  expressed his pity for the lack of involvement of the young into the science field.

Besides, Sergey Hmabardzumyan, who had 72 years of pedagogical experience, considers that the term “Pedagogy” has lost its meaning for already long time. Moreover, He suggests that the term should be replaced by “Course Studies”, “Teachers Studies”, or some other word which will clearly express the whole essence of the science.

It is also quite peculiar that the professor considers it of utmost importance to have male teachers at schools; this will considerably change the atmosphere and the pupils’ mindset at schools.

“Instead of perceiving a child as some empty pot, the teacher should fill this pot with knowledge, together with providing other knowledge, he/she should also teach children to think and apply the information they received. And last but not least, success and results are achieved by those who are able to think,” added Sergey Hambardzumyan who, is actually gifted from the nature and executes his mission of a teacher, truly loves teaching, and whom people like to listen too.
