New discipline to be introduced at ASPU

Sonya Alimovich and Anna Katushich, both representatives of the modular training course of Perkins International, are at ASPU for a three-day visit.

About a year ago, Perkins International and the Faculty of Special and Inclusive Education of Armenian State Pedagogical University set up cooperation. The programme consisting of 4 modules has both theoretical and practical hours.

During the visit organized on the sidelines of the last phase of the programme, experts will have working meetings with the university's special educational needs (SEN) specialists to discuss most common conditions associated with cortical visual impairment (CVI) which is widespread in the world.

The parties will jointly develop the description of an academic discipline: The course will be included in the curriculum of the Faculty of Special Education and in the 2022-2023 academic year it will be taught in the 1st year master's programmes.

“ASPU lecturers are ready to study CVI-associated problems and inform students about them. Nowadays it is very important to be aware of the problem․ people’s perceptions of children with such impairments are different. We cooperate with other educational institutions too, but the Pedagogical University is the only university where a separate discipline will be introduced," Sonya Alimovich said in a conversation with old.aspu.am, expressing her satisfaction with the programme outcomes.
