"The Faculty of Philology of Armenian State Pedagogical University (ASPU), which was founded in 1930, has been educating and preparing pedagogues for over a century now, imparting knowledge and ensuring the purity of our graduates’ language thereby helping us carry out our mission of guiding our students to future-oriented scientific achievements, preserving our identity, history, and culture. Therefore, I warmly congratulate the entire staff of the Faculty for always being by your side, for educating and guiding you and for organizing today's farewell party as part of their difficult but honorable mission," ASPU Rector Srbuhi Gevorgyan said on Friday during the ceremony of granting diplomas (graduation certificates).
The rector also congratulated the graduates of the University's youngest faculty - the Faculty of Foreign Languages, noting that the Faculty, which was founded in 2000, has made significant and tremendous contributions to the life of the educational institution and the development of the language, clearly outlining its place and role not only in the Republic of Armenia, but also beyond its boundaries.
Srbuhi Gevorgyan emphasized the role of foreign languages for a 21st-century teacher. "Today, we present you the standard of our mission and quality we are proud of and with which we presenting ourselves to the professional community. Students are the greatest capital of our university in humane and professional terms," the rector said.
Tigran Mikayelyan, Dean of the Faculty of Foreign Languages, says in addition to being exciting such graduation ceremonies are also a bridge between the current and future achievements. "The bridge will not be brought down. This is the home of your souls, which will always wait for your return," the dean said and added that the Faculty students bring pride and honor to the University with their professional knowledge.
This year, the Faculty of Foreign Languages has had 104 graduates, with 21 receiving diplomas with honors.
Ashot Galstya, Dean of the Faculty of Philology, studied at ASPU from 1984 to 1991. He joined the congratulations voiced on the occasion of the day and added that the light of knowledge has always been an object of love and reverence, just like teachers.
He was proud to say that the graduates of the Faculty work in schools in Armenia and Diaspora. He hopes the graduating students will also become wonderful teachers, work in schools, and pass on the light of their souls to the younger generation.
The Faculty of Philology has had 116 graduates, with 13 receiving diplomas with honors.
