New President of the Student Council

Today, an expanded session of the ASPU Student Council took place; the agenda of the session included the elections of the new SC President, Vice-President and Secretary.
Prior to passing on to the agenda, the current President Nersik Margaryan expressed acknowledgements for the collaborative work and emphasized that throughout the 6 years of office he defended the interest and rights of students to the extent possible and ensured their autonomy.

“The student council was, is, and will be the body which makes students’ voice heard both inside and outside the university, discusses their problems, organizes interesting and meaningful leisure time, as well as provides the opportunity to engage in social activities”, mentioned Nersik Margaryan and added that all of the concerns had always been taken into account and the faults in regards with the operations of the Council had been improved.

Likewise, the latter assured that during his presidency, the most student-oriented centre had been running a student –centered policy with high level of responsibility and dignity, serving for the growth of the student’s role and their importance at the university.

Further on, Nersik Margaryan awarded diplomas to the Assistant of the SC President Ashot Khachatryan, the Vice-Presidents Hovhannes Gusikyan, Souren Yeghiazaryan and Edik Gulyan.

In accordance with the acting SC Charter, the Council nominated Paruyr Galstyan as a candidate of President.

The latter was the former President of the SC Organizational Committee, 1st year MA student at the Department of Landscape Planning and Design of the ASPU Faculty of Biology, Chemistry and Geography.

The newly elected President of the SC thanked for the vested trust and promised to multiply the gained achievements and success by preserving the best traditions of the former years. Speaking about the future activities of the Council, Paruyr Galstyan promised to keep sports, environmental, patriotic, social, and cultural events in the focus of operations; as well as to strengthen the intercollegiate relations and cooperation with international students.

As a result of the voting of the members of the Council, the MA student of the Faculty of Culture Yervand Ismailyan was elected as the SC Vice –President, and the student of the Faculty of Primary Education Marlena Sardaryan was elected as the SC Secretary.
