Geghetsik Hakobyan, a four-year student of the ASPU Faculty of Foreign Languages (specialization in French Language and Literature) received a grant from the Agence universitaire de la Francophonie (AUF) which enabled her to do a one-month internship at Anatole Fance College in the city of Lille in Northern France.
During her visit, the student had an opportunity to teach French as a foreign language to pupils aged between 11 and 16, as well as attend certain courses at ESPE and Lille1 universities.
Despite her busy schedule, the student managed to visit different cultural centers and cities in France.
Talking to old.aspu.am, Geghetsik Hakobyan said the internship helped her develop and strengthen her knowledge of the [French] language, provided her an opportunity to appropriate new teaching/learning methods, brought her closer to French culture, and helped her acquire new friends.
“Thanks to the programme, I was able to apply the theoretical knowledge I acquired at the Pedagogical University in the corresponding language environment. In the course of my studies at the Pedagogical University I acquired profound knowledge and did not encounter difficulties during my stay in France,” Geghetsik said advising others to study well and try to do their internship abroad, at the same time learning about international experience in the field of their studies.
Armenian State Pedagogical University became a member of the Agence universitaire de la Francophonie in 2013. This international organization is comprised of various higher education institutions, research centers as well as schools. The AUF allows its member institutions, specifically students and staff members with the knowledge of France, to apply for different AUF grants and attend short-term and long-term training programmes in an AUF member institution in another country.
After attending information seminars organized by the International Cooperation Department of the Pedagogical University, three students of the University applied for AUF grants. Two of them, Geghetsik Hakobyan, a four-year student of the Faculty of Foreign Languages, and Anush Sargsyan, a second-year MA student of the Faculty of Educational Psychology and Sociology, were given an opportunity to study abroad.
