An online conference organized within the framework of the Erasmus "Fostering Socially Distanced and Inclusive on-Campus Education in Armenian HEIs (eCAMPUS)" Project was held recently. The conference was dedicated to summarizing the results of digital needs assessment of teaching staff in Armenian universities and developing a digital competence framework for teaching, learning, and assessment.
The main topic of discussion was the policy document for the introduction and implementation of digital competence framework in Armenian universities. The online conference brought together around 90 representatives from Armenian and European universities and institutions, including ASPU.
In his opening remarks, Armen Budaghyan, Director of the Quality Assurance Center at Yerevan State University (YSU) and coordinator of the project, spoke about the objectives of the eCAMPUS project and the steps planned for the near future. He emphasized the importance of creating a digital competence framework tailored to the needs of Armenian HEIs.
In the first session, representatives of the European partner universities shared their experiences. Speeches were delivered by Giovanni Adorni (University of Genoa), Rui Mendes (University of Lisbon), Joaquin Labra (University of Madrid), and Victor Cordas (Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm), who spoke about the development and implementation features of digital competence frameworks in their countries.
Representatives of the Armenian partner universities, including Vice-Rector for HR Management and International Cooperation at Armenian State Pedagogical University (ASPU) Marianna Harutyunyan, made speeches in the second session.
The speeches were followed by the results of surveys conducted at 8 universities in the Republic of Armenia, emphasizing the main problems and needs.
After the speeches, the results of surveys conducted in eight Armenian universities to assess the digital needs of students and faculty members were presented.
The participants emphasized the importance of developing digital competencies of teaching staff in Armenian universities and introduction of a comprehensive framework.
