By the initiative of the Faculty of EPS Chair of Sociology and Social Work, an open discussion lecture on the topic of “Students’ Independent Research Paper Works Writing Skills” was organized by the PhD, Professor Robert Jijyan and the Candidate of Sociology, Assistant Samson Mkhitaryan the 4th year BA student and the 1st year MA students.
Samson Mkhitaryan presented the structure of a student’s written work including the introduction, the chapters presenting the body and the conclusion. The speaker emphasized that the content of a student’s written work must reflect the material contained in the sources used, while the research part must include the identification of the main perspectives mentioned in those sources referring to the topic, as well as the part about the positive and negative sides of those perspectives, criticizing remarks thereabout mentioned in the sources.
“Students’ independent research activities are one of the most important phases of their professional practice and are aimed at forming and strengthening the professional research capacities and vigor. In particular, a course paper is a student’s first step towards independent scientific research, while postgraduate research is special because it is through that work that the overall scientific culture, competence, awareness of contemporary scientific achievements, results of the independent research of an MA student may be manifested”, Samson Mkhitaryan mentioned in his interview to the old.aspu.am.
In his turn, Professor Jijyan presented overall structure of the wording of a student paper during the open discussion lecture.
