Participants of “Summer School 2016” compete in various sporting events

Participants of the “Summer School 2016” programme started the 8th day at the Aghavandzor-based training centre of Armenian State Pedagogical University with sporting activities.

In the past several days, they visited many historical places and attractions in Armenia, including Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, Gevorkian Seminary, Mesrop Mashtots Institute of Ancient Manuscripts, Armenian State Pedagogical University, where they got acquainted with the University’s history, activities and education system. They started the new day competing in different sporting events and held the final tournaments which they started several days ago. They competed in draughts, chess, table tennis and volleyball.

Talking to old.aspu.am, Suren Barseghyan, Deputy Head of the Chair of Chess and Sports, said a tense struggle was observed in the volleyball competition, with the teams of Saint-Petersburg University of Economics and Lithuanian University of Educational Sciences competing for the first place. In the long run, the team of Lithuanian University of Educational Sciences took a 2:1 win over its rival.

The atmosphere became even more heated when the students of various countries united in one team and competed with a team comprised of ASPU employees. Unity and friendship won this time.

The participants spent the rest of the day strolling in Yerevan and watched a film in the evening. The “Summer School 2016” international programme will be solemnly closed at the Aghavandzor-based training centre of the Pedagogical University on August 18.
