The ASPU Lecturer Davit Poghosyan participated in the two-month project on research and exchange of experience at Grassi Museum of Ethnography in Leipzig. He participated therein by the invitation within the “Dresden State Art Collections” museum system.
This was the first participation of Armenia in the annual project provided by the British museum.
The lecturer in the Chair of Museology, Library Studies and Bibliography, Candidate of Pedagogy Davit Poghosyan worked at the Department of Educational Programmes of the museum in question, where with the help of local employees he was involved in the solution of various practical issues, sharing with personal experience, as well as in the process of drafting educational –research projects. On the basis of research of valuable collections acquired from Nor Jugha in the 19th century currently kept at the museum, the ASPU lecturer drafted a project proposal about museum education and tried to implement it with the support of the Armenian students’ union in Leipzig. The project proposal was approved by the specialists in Dresden and Leipzig, who were the inviting party.
According to Davit Poghosyan, the project may later on transfer into cooperation between the museum and the local Armenian community with a paradigm of new interpretation of the immense heritage.
In addition to studies, Davit Poghosyan also visited a number of cities and museums in Germany, as well as met the Professor of the Chair of Museology of the Media Faculty at University of Applied Sciences in Leipzig Mr. Markus Volz, got familiarized with the peculiarities of the two-phase (Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees) education system in Museology and Library Sciences at that University. In addition, a primary agreement was made to arrange exchange of experience and delivery of lectures with the ASPU Faculty of Culture Chair of Museology, Library Science and Bibliography in future.
In his interview to ASPU, Davit Poghosyan mentioned that he was planning to contribute with his two-month experience into the sphere of professional education and to continue with foreign partners.
The ASPU lecturer is already involved in activities of organizing the training on “Museum, Education and Involvement” with exchange of international experience for specialists of museology studies due in Yerevan from 25-28 October. On this occasion, experts from the British Museum, Manchester Exhibition Hall, Glasgow Museum system and other international museums will visit Armenia together with the Coordinator of Cultural Programmes of the Grassi Museum of Ethnography Christina Fischer.
And last but not least, ASPU students from the Department of Museology and Monuments Conservation will volunteer in the process of organizing the training.
