Pedagogues are unique people; they are different from everyone else

Summer school for young scientists named “Contemporary Issues in Education” wrapped up at Armenian State Pedagogical University.

Summing up the results of the three-day meetings, Aida Topuzyan, the organizer of the event who heads the ASPU Chair of Professional Education and Applied Pedagogy, thanked the organizers and participants, assuring everyone that each of them would take something important with him.

“The initiative enabled us to know one another and understand that the ASPU has the right to be called university. We have proved that we have strong, knowledgeable and young staff members,” Professor Topuzyan said adding that although the participants represented different spheres, pedagogy united all of them.

Aida Topuzyan says a lecturer embodies the objectives of students. “We are building the future of our country and we are educating the builders of our country. Pedagogues are unique people, we are different from everyone else,” she stressed.

ASPU Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Srbuhi Gevorgyan was likewise pleased with the results of the summer school. She says it helped them understand the achievements and weaknesses of the initiative.

“During the three-day contacts I have tried to understand the basic needs of young scientists and to what extent they have been able to present [on a general platform] problematic needs in the field of their study,” the vice-rector said stressing once again that the support of young scientists and their training through different programmes is one of the key components of the University’s strategy.

Srbuhi Gevorgyan assured everyone that they would discuss the results of the pilot programme, identify the priorities as the programme allowed the participants to come up with projects that had certain professional value. The vice-rector also handed over certificates to the programme participants.

The participants agreed that the event was a success and thanked the organizers. They said it was first of all an interesting dialogue between generations, an exchange of experience and an opportunity to acquire new contacts and deepen further cooperation.

Also, a collection of projects of the participants has been published. It consists of three sections that include the joint analyses of young scientists, postgraduate students, degree seekers and their supervisors.
