“In the 30s-50s of the 20th century, it was widely believed that faith and religion were the opposite of knowledge. However, this is a misperception. Religion is also a type of knowledge but differs from other types of knowledge with its main concept and the means of learning that concept”, mentioned the ASPU Professor, Head of the Chair of Social Sciences Levon Shirinyan.
From the historical-philosophical point of view, the Doctor of Political Sciences highlighted the importance of studying and understanding the civilization mission of Armenian people and Armenia and problems of the history.
Likewise, the speaker observed that by overcoming certain stereotypes, it became obvious that we were talking about the creative origin of Armenia of which various world-famous persons had expressed their point of view at different periods of time. As such, Professor Shirinyan brought the example of German philosopher Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz, who had mentioned back in the days that Armenian language, so different from Hebrew and Arabic, was certainly the language of a country where Moses founded the earthly paradise.
However, during his speech, Levon Shirinyan was sorry to observe that throughout time Armenian people had lost their advantages and traditions, and currently, when we were facing the transitions of the new world, we needed to re-establish Armenia and the peculiarity of the crossroads “gifted” by the God.
“Creation is the advantage of our country with which we may act as a political cradle. We are obliged to re-establish ourselves, each and every generation has the issue of re-establishment and reformation. The weakness of the state provokes attacks, which make wars inevitable.”
According to the ASPU Acting Rector Srbouhi Gevorgyan, also attending the open lecture, the philosophy of creation is ontologically and semantically controversial, but it creates a huge field for questions for those present. A part of them is in the sphere of science, and the other part in the sphere of theology; in both cases there are multiple factors and emphasis, which would form a worldview to understand main principles of philosophy of creation.
During his lecture, Doctor of Political Science Levon Shirinyan spoke about political philosopher, Professor Joseph Nye’s definition of “smart power”-the combination of “soft power” and “hard power”, noticing that this theory lies in the basis of strategy and fortification of a number of states.
