Professor Karlen Topchyan Passed Away

The Professor of the Chair of Music Pedagogy of the Pedagogical University’s Faculty of Art Education Karlen Topchyan passed away in his 80th year.

The Professor was born in Akhaltskha on 14 February 1937. He spent his childhood in Gyumri where he attended musical school, after which he graduated from the Musical College after K. Murza. He studied at the Yerevan State Conservatory after Komitas in the class of the well-known Armenian pedagogue –pianist, Professor R. Andriasyan. After working as a concertmaster with the famous conductor Hovhannes Cheqijyan at the National Academic Choir for many years, Topchyan expressed brilliant performance skills. Likewise, he numerously participated in concerts and tours in different countries of the world.

The Honoured Artist Karlen Topchyan had worked at the Pedagogical University as the Head of the Chair of Musical Instruments, Professor for around 20 years. He was appreciated by everybody for his high personal features and professionalism.

Today his students are successfully working in different music centres of Armenia. The memory of the honoured pedagogue, preforming pianist and exemplary person will always be bright in the hearts of his colleagues and students.
