It is with great sadness that we inform you of the death of Varuzhan Hovhannisyan, Acting Professor at the Chair of Ecology and Sustainable Development at ASPU, Doctor of Biology.
Varuzhan Hovhannisyan was born in 1952. In 1981, he graduated from the Faculty of Biology and Chemistry of the Pedagogical Institute named after Khachatur Abovyan.
In 1981-1982, he taught Biology in the secondary school of Darakert village, Masis. In1982-1997, he was a senior researcher at the Institute of Zoology of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia (NAS RA), and since 1997 he was Acting Professor at ASPU.
Varuzhan Hovhannisyan was interested in environmental education issues. He taught Hydroecology, Geoecology, Geochemistry and Geophysics of Biosphere, Ecological Physiology, Industrial Ecology, Concept of Modern Natural Sciences, Ecological Expertise, Management of Natural Resources, etc.
He is the author of 57 scientific works, one book and one methodological manual.
Varuzhan Hovhannisyan enjoyed the love and respect of his colleagues and students. He fully shared his experience and knowledge with the younger generation.
The ASPU leadership and lecturers express their deepest condolences to the Hovhannisyan’s family on the death of Varuzhan Hovhannisyan.
The memory of the distinguished educator and scientist will remain bright in the hearts of his colleagues and students.
