Projects with new opportunities

It’s been around a year since the launch of the project “CaucaSusT-Transdisciplinarity for Sustainable Tourism Development in the Caucasus Region”.

This initiative has united the Armenian State Pedagogical University after Khachatur Abovyan, the Tbilisi State University after Ivanei Javakhishvili, the University of Natural Resources and Natural Sciences of Vienna, and the University of Applied Sciences of Krems. The project’s objective is to use innovative approaches to study and offer solutions to the real problems of development of tourism sector throughout life by means of uniting people and institutions engaged in science, and by involving the local population. The project’s goal is to clarify and raise the role of universities in public life.

The Armenian Project Coordinator is the ASPU Head of the Chair of Geography and its Teaching Methods, Doctor of Geography, Professor Ashot Khoyetsyan, who will be directly supervising the field research activities. Similarly, the lecturer of the above-mentioned Chair, Candidate of Geography Studies, Associate Professor Marinei Matosyan is demonstrating active participation in organizational part of the project.

Within the framework of the project, Mr. Tigran Qeryan is conducting research activities at the University of Natural Resources and Natural Sciences of Vienna; the latter is going to apply his knowledge and experience for the scientific development of the ASPU. In near future, he will deliver lectures for the APSU lecturers and students, which will be followed by field research activities. The ASPU students and lecturers, as well as lecturers from the aforementioned Universities of Austria and Georgia will participate in the research. The aim of the field research is to evaluate the touristic potential of two research areas, Marmarik river valley and Dilijan, and to offer possible solutions with transdisciplinary approach.

This project will last until 2020.
