Recently a seminar discussion was held at the Faculty of Educational Psychology and Sociology, which was attended by 2nd and 4th year students majoring in Psychology and Pedagogy and 4th year students majoring in Social Pedagogy.
The participants of the seminar entitled “Psychological Characteristics of the Independence Generation” discussed the achievements and challenges faced by the independence generation, presented the psychological portrait of the new generation and dwelt on a number of key concepts.
Each of the participating groups demonstrated a unique approach to the discussion, using interesting methods, flexibility of thought and interactivity. For example, the 2nd year students presented the image of the independence generation by analyzing the results of the psychological research [conducted by them]. They also presented the dialogue between generations through an interesting essay, providing a comparative analysis of each age of a RA citizen and his primary values.
Social educators presented the same portrait with the help of a SWOT analysis, giving a detailed description of the advantages and weaknesses of the independence generation. The generational dialogue was reflected in a ‘case,’ with each representative of the independence generation attempting to find his place in a free country.
Forth year students majoring in Psychology demonstrated an empirical approach. Summarizing the psychological advantages and difficulties of the independence generation through surveys and other studies, they gave a comparative analysis of transitional and independent generations.
The seminar discussion ended with patriotic songs and common ideology: “We are all Armenians, we are all demanders, we are bearers of our history and heirs of the same nation in all corners of the world.”
Sona Makichyan, Deputy Dean for Scientific Affairs and Graduate Studies at the Faculty of Educational Psychology and Sociology, Angela Sargsyan and Naira Harutyunyan, both lecturers at the Chair of Psychology, expressed their satisfaction with the discussion, emphasizing that the seminar will have a logical development in the format of a conference.
