Quiz game at ASPU: Students check their knowledge of Pedagogy

An educational quiz game was held at Armenian State Pedagogical University, with the participation of 2nd and 3rd year students of the Faculty of Primary Education and Faculty of Education Psychology and Sociology.

The quiz game organized by Gayane Aghuzumtsyan and Naira Martirosyan, both lecturers at the Chair of Professional Education and Applied Pedagogy, was conducted in two phases. The event started with greetings.

The teams of the Faculty of Primary Education and Faculty of Education Psychology and Sociology -“Muse” and “Illuminators” respectively – presented their symbols and slogans providing explanations with them and then introduced the members of each team using the method of “Spider's Web.”

In Round 1, the teams asked each other five questions related to Pedagogy and then presented a situation through a role-playing game which was analyzed by the rival team.

Afterwards, the teams were given home assignments and asked questions starting with “Do you know when/where…?” The questions concerned memorable dates, facts and events in Pedagogy. The teams were later asked to cite pedagogical sayings and dictums which were also interpreted by the rival team.

In Round 2, the competition continued between the captains of the teams, who were asked ten quick questions. Summing up the results of the competition, the team of the Faculty of Education Psychology and Sociology, “Illuminators,” was recognized as winner after taking a 4:3 win over “Muza.”

“It was a great honour for us to present our Faculty and compete with such an interesting team. We all worked together and did purposeful work in the past several days. The motto of our team, "Get educated to educate others ... Enlighten to be enlightened," which guided us throughout the game, will continue to serve its purpose,” Misha Tadevosyan, the captain of the team, told old.aspu.am.

Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Assistant Professor Naira Martirosyan said the aim of the quiz game was to check the students' theoretical knowledge of Pedagogy and understand to what extent they had grasped fundamentals of Pedagogy.
Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor Gayane Aghuzumtsyan said the quiz game organized at the end of the academic year was a kind of lesson review which they organized by the example of a game-Olympiad that she had organized at the same Faculty many years ago.

The event was attended by pupils of School N124 after Nerses Mets, who wrapped up the event with their beautiful speech. Students of the Faculty of Education Psychology and Sociology took their internships at this school.
