The number of book readers has not declined. Just the methods of reading have changed. Today people read books on mobile phones, computers, tablets and other devices,” Head of the ASPU Library Tigran Petrosyants said in conversation with old.aspu.am.
He says in the course of time people changed their opinion about reading and today many believe that books are dying but it is not so. If books are disappearing, why do talented people still write and print books?
On the day of presenting books, the head of the ASPU Library stated once again that books are still in great demand and there is a considerable increase in print books sales.
“In our library, one can find books which are 200 years old. They survive with their colophons. Sometimes colophons are more valuable than books because they can be found nowhere else in the world,” Tigran Petrosyants said. He added that the demand for scholarly literature and fiction is great in their library.
In conclusion, the head of the library said that reading has always been and continues to remain fashionable.
