"In this big world, sudents are an integral part of your life, like atoms and fermions. They are rays of unquenchable and life-giving light that illuminates the universe. Be a strong teacher who will educate a powerful generation that defends and has infinite love for the Homeland." These words belong to Lala Stepanyan, a MA student at the Faculty of Primary Education, who has been named winner of the university-wide Olympiad in Pedagogy.
This year, the traditional event initiated by the Chair of Education was dedicated to the International Children's Day (marked on June 1).
As Professor Aida Topuzyan, Head of the Chair of Education, said in her speech, the day is symbolic for everyone: children are one of the most vulnerable groups in society who need attention, love and protection every day.
The Olympiad was held in 3 stages: the goal was to help high school students in career orientation, raise interest in teaching as a profession, analyze pedagogical situations and provide adequate solutions to them and give advice to beginning teachers.
Five MA and two BA students from different faculties of the University entered the final round.
Mariam Ispiryan, ASPU Vice-Rector for Education and Science, highlighted the importance of the Olympiad, which has become a part of the daily life of the University, considering it a kind of review for both professors and students.
The vice-rector once again emphasized the importance of cooperation between lecturers and students and the fact that the latter respond to and consistently participate in such initiatives despite their busy schedules.
Mariam Ispiryan assured the presentees that the ASPU leadership stands by students’ side, is ready to support and guide them towards new achievements in their fields of study and help them realize their vision for the future.
ASPU Vice-Rector for Education Naira Safaryan wished Armenian children and students to be able to realize their dreams and aspirations under a peaceful sky and in a safe country.
"Dear teachers, remember that you are one of the builders of the state and the future, and no matter what you achieve and where you go, you are the ones who educate and shape citizens of Armenia," Sona Baghdasaryan, MA student of the Faculty of Education Psychology and Sociology, who came second in the Olympiad, said when addressing novice teachers.
Elen Gabrielyan, a BA student of the Faculty of Primary Education, who came third in the Olympiad, emphasized the importance of national education and advised future teachers and students to appreciate what they have. that is what distinguishes Armenians from other nations.
Let us add that pupils of Yerevan Basic School N104 were also present at the Olympiad. As the heroes of the day, they performed musical performances and expressed their gratitude to the adults in the hall.
