Today, the Pedagogical University welcomed Russian delegation consisting of representatives from various higher educational institutions of the RF, including Moscow City Pedagogical University; the Head of the Department of General Education of the Yerevan Municipality Anna Stepanyan was in charge of the visit.
On this event, the guests visited the APSU Museum, got familiarised with the history of establishment of the University, the chronology, after which they went to the ASPU “Chess” Research Institute.
The Head of the Scientific Programmes Section of the Institute Vahan Sargsyan introduced the guests with the activities, achievements and success of the centre and spoke about the practice and outcomes of mandatory “Chess” classes taught at schools. Besides, Vahan Sargsyan highlighted that the Institute was sharing its experience with other interested states within the scope of international conferences and on various other initiatives.
In their turn, the Russian colleagues asked their questions about the operations conducted by the Institute, particularly in regards with the chess teaching practice and its effectiveness.
Further on, the delegation was greeted by the Rector of the Pedagogical University Mr. Rouben Mirzakhanyan, who shared with success stories of cooperation with a number of Russian higher educational institutions, as well as assured on their readiness to expand the scope of cooperation. In addition to exchange of students and lecturers between partner universities and mutual visits, the Rector specifically highlighted the joint implementation of the “Summer School” international programme.
“When foreign languages are taught by their native speakers, the results are usually much better. Therefore, first and foremost, we need to expand our cooperation in this area, as we are losing Russian language yearly”, mentioned Rouben Mirzakhanyan an added that the Pedagogical University was aiming to establish strong and continuous partnership links with various higher educational institutions of the RF.
The members of the delegation thanked for the warm hospitality, looking forward to being able to collaborate both in scientific research areas and chess teaching experiences, etc.
We would also like to mention that within the framework of their visit, the delegation visited different universities and schools of the country, and outlined new opportunities and modes of Russian-Armenian cooperation in the sphere of education.
