Recently, the research of the Candidate of Art, Associate Professor Ara Hakobyan’s “Armenian Marine Painters” has been published, which is a major art, historical –cultural, and documentary material.
The editors of the book are the RA Honored Cultural Figures, Professors Rouben Mirzakhanyan and Vigen Ghazaryan. For the first time, the biography of the Armenian marine painters and artists related to the marine art is presented, which vastly includes factual material, introduces their life full of challenges but also significant events, memorable days and happy meetings.
On their canvases particular attention is given to a number of issues reflected in genre-thematic meaning, related to national mentality, individual perception of colours, manifestation of unique skills, which are observed in the marine pictures and their detailed examination.
The extensive work, being the result of long-term studies and searches expand the ideas about the national landscape art.
The material was reviewed and published on various occasions, such as for example, in a wide historical and cultural context, and was set in scientific circulation. Many names, works that have so far been unknown, have been set on circulation, more typical features have been identified, and pointed out
“National features should not be searched only in scenes. The secret is in the personality of an artist, the methodology of his creative work. Praising the contribution of each person, it should also be taken into account that no painting school, no unknown painter can develop in an isolation from the world, particularly in the conditions of multifunctional relations of the 20th century that have already reached immense sizes”, mentioned Ara Hakobyan.
