A Mathematics and Physics Olympiad was organized recently by the ASPU Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Informatics.
Over 150 pupils from the 11th and 12th forms, who had won the 1st round in their schools, competed in Round 2 which was held at the ASPU.
Gagik Demirkhanyan, Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Informatics, assured everyone that the questionnaires were compiled by lecturers of the Faculty who had extensive experience in conducting Olympiads.
“The aim of Olympiads is to reveal and identify the best [candidates] in the given field of science, enable them to improve their skills and knowledge and continue studies in higher education institutions,” Mr. Demirkhanyan said emphasizing the role of Olympiads especially for pupils from regions.
The dean added that they included the participants of the second round in the Google Classroom platform as well with the aim of making mathematical and physics issues accessible to them and strengthening the link between schools and universities.
Taking to old.aspu.am, Gagik Demirkhanyan said the results would be summed up in a couple of days. At the end of the Olympiad, the participants will receive certificates, the winners of the first ten places will receive 10-50% discount on tuition fees if they choose to study at the Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Informatics in future.
