A seminar discussion entitled "The Use of Educational Manuals and Handbooks in Mother Tongue Teaching" was held at Basic School № 135 after G. Stepanyan last week. The discussion was organized by Armine Mikayelyan, Laura Avagyan, Arine Avagimyan and Tatevik Yenokyan – all lecturers of the Chair of Mother Tongue and its Teaching Methods of the Faculty of Primary Education.
2nd and 3rd year students majoring in Elementary Education and Methods who are doing an internship in the same school, as well as elementary school teachers participated in the meeting.
The seminar discussion was informative and productive, with speakers presenting various educational materials, "Interesting Native Language 1" and adapted notebooks for learners with SEN, "Native Language 1" (parts 1 and 2).
The speakers presented and analyzed the structure, content and methodological features of the workbooks (which include both books and notebooks). They stressed that pupils can use the workbooks during vacations too; they offer games, puzzles and self-tests.
Let us add that "Interesting Native Language" which consists of four parts is intended for grades 1-4. The language tasks correspond to the curriculum and the standards. They also have QR codes which pupils can scan to access and complete the assignments and quizzes. The participants tested the QR codes during the meeting to complete the e-tasks.
The discussion ended with a Q&A session, with teachers voicing their main concerns and coming up with interesting proposals.
