The Faculty of Art Education at the Armenian State Pedagogical University hosted the opening of an exhibition entitled “Story of a Still Life Painting”.
The exhibition featured the paintings by the students of the “My Art Studio”, which is adjunct to the Faculty of Art Education.
At the opening ceremony, Dean Ara Hakobyan stated that the Faculty hosts cultural events almost every week, resenting the works of the young generation and staying true to the University’s main mission, that is, the mission to prepare future pedagogues.
According to Professor Hakobyan, the Armenian people are characterized by the arts, and there are many art studios in Armenia. He added that the idea of establishing “My Art Studio” was born last year, and in order of priority, importance was attached to literacy, developing aesthetic taste of a child and introducing the child to the secrets of painting.
Ara Hakobyan notes that the world of art is extremely fairytale-like for children. According to him, this is what conditions the interesting approaches to painting and drawing, as well as the literacy and taste for presenting the same still life painting in different ways.
The Dean highly appreciated the work and dedication of the leading specialists of the Faculty who teach in the Studio and wished the children that they always be in an environment of arts and in that fairytale-like world.
The exhibition’s facilitator, Associate Professor of the Chair of Fine Arts Sevada Sargsyan, who also teaches in the Studio, mentioned that the cultural organization is not just a place for organizing a child’s leisure and that importance is attached to transmitting literacy in the fine arts and helping the children learn about the language of fine arts.
Sargsyan reminded that fine arts are associated with almost all functions in life activities, starting from cognition and ending with education. Sevada Sargsyan considers the “Story of a Still Life Painting” exhibition a small group study as well — a study that confirms the fact that fine arts are the science of ‘that which is infinite’.
The participants of the exhibition received symbolic gifts, as well as certificates. As a matter of fact, the Dean of the Faculty of Art Education also received a certificate from the students of the Studio.
The parents and children toured the Faculty and paid visits to the art classrooms in which the works of the University’s teaching artists are presented.
