Nshan Margaryan, 2nd-year student of the Faculty of Biology, Chemistry and Geography at the Armenian State Pedagogical University (ASPU), has received the Certificate of Honor of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Armenia.
Private Margaryan was awarded for his personal contribution to the drills held between 10 September and 4 October and for achieving the best results.
Demobilized a year ago after serving in Kapan, Nshan Margaryan participated in the 25-day drills in Sisian and spent 14 of those days in combat duty at the military posts in Ishkhanasar.
During a conversation with old.aspu.am, Margaryan admitted that he had barely forgotten about military service when he left for the drills, but was more aware and prepared since he knew where he was going and why.
Margaryan says he stood out right from the start as a rifleman during the fire training and later for being law-abiding and applying his knowledge at the combat posts.
The future geographer believes his profession also helped him during the drills — he was able to view and explore the location, conditions and the relief through the eyes of a geographer, and he even knew early on from where the wind was going to blow.
Nshan Margaryan saw the enemy at a distance of 5 meters, “interacted” with the enemy, but managed to overcome his fear and make sure the adversary retreated.
After graduating, the future pedagogue will work by his profession. Margaryan says nowadays people are less patriotic and believes pedagogues can help fill the gap, adding that, on his part, he will definitely dedicate a small part of his lessons to instilling patriotism and keeping the national spirit alive.
