2019 is a commemoration jubilee for Anna Akhmatova, Russian poet of the Silver Age, translator, literary critic and one of the most outstanding representatives of Russian literature.
The conference headed “Anna Akhmatova on Cultural Domain” dedicated to the 130th anniversary of the poet was organized by the initiative of the Associate Professor of the Chair of Foreign Literature and with the involvement of the ASPU students of the Faculty of Foreign Languages, Department of Russian Language and Literature.
Among all of the reports submitted for participation in the conference the best ten were selected, referring to the issues matter of interest from the literary perspectives and reflecting the peculiarities of Akhmatova’s literary heritage, main directions of the poet’s lyrical development, and its influence on other branches of arts.
Students, participating in the conference prepared information leaflets with K.S. Petrov-Vodkin’s famous portrait of Akhmatova of 1922 on the cover page.
Among those present at the conference were the teaching staff of the Faculty of Foreign Languages and the students of the Department of Russian Language and Literature.
On this occasion, Associate Professor Anahit Amirkhanyan congratulated on organization of the conference and assured that events marking the jubilee of Anna Akhmatova are still due later on, with an official kick off on 23 June.
The moderator of the conference was the fourth-year student Zohrab Zohrabyan. The event started with the recitation of the fourth-year student Luiza Zhamharyan, who presented poem “The Muse”/Muza/ written by A. Akhmatova in 1924.
To conclude, the participants of the conference summed up the activities of the conference by expressing acknowledgements to the organizers, hoping for such student conferences to become traditional, giving a chance to get familiarized with the Russian literature on more comprehensive basis.
