Student scientific conference held at ASPU

A student scientific conference was held at the Faculty of Philology, which was attended by students from Armenian State Pedagogical University and other universities. Also, a video call was established on Skype with Matia Minic, a student of the Seminary of St. Peter in Cetinje, Montenegro, who presented a report.

In their reports, the students focused on the use of new methods during classes of Armenian Language and Literature. Those methods had already been used during practices and at the university. Later they were reviewed and developed with the supervisor and presented to conference participants. In their reports, the students also referred to basic phonemic awareness in elementary schools and the study of proper names, methods of teaching prose, as well as teaching of works by various authors during the classes of Armenian Literature in primary schools.

ASPU Vice-Rector Srbuhi Gevorgyan attached importance to student scientific conferences which, she said, had developed into a good tradition. She was also glad to see the change of the format - from interfaculty to intercollegiate. The Vice-Rector expressed hope that the students would develop their reports and present them to wider audiences.

Ashot Galstyan, Dean of the Faculty of Philology, said that students participate in conferences with great enthusiasm and they want to hold them annually to be able to summarize the achievements of students.

“This is a serious platform for students which arouses desire to develop knowledge and have more scientific achievements,” the Dean said adding that future philologists often suggest conducting classes with new methods. The joint discussions with Methodists reveal the strengths and weaknesses of methods: once they are approved, they are used in classes.
